Cancellation dates and rates can be found on our Dates & Rates page.

What is your dismissal policy?

If a child behaves or makes choices in a way that we determine to be potentially harmful to the physical or emotional safety of themselves or others, or engages in a behavior that could be considered unlawful, it is at the camp director’s discretion to remove and dismiss a child from camp. If this should take place, a parent or guardian will be contacted to make arrangements for a child’s return home. Parents will have no more than 2 hours before their child must be off camp premises. Failure to do so could result in the child being turned over to protective services. Removal of a child from camp will be at the parent’s expense, and no rebate or refund of tuition will be given. We hope that no child is dismissed from camp, but we will take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of every child in camp at all times.

Can my child request a group mate?

Campers will be divided into large groups of 30 roughly by age. In dividing by age, campers will have the opportunity to connect with their peers and engage in play with those at similar developmental levels as them - physically, emotionally, and mentally. We also feel strongly that this provides campers the opportunity to make friends separate from pre-existing relationships with friends or siblings - camp is an excellent opportunity to develop or practice this skill.

We will do our best to honor group mate requests for campers within the same age range, but will not accommodate requests for campers of different ages.

What if my camper takes medication?

At Stone Canyon, medications are defined as prescription medications, over the counter medications, topical creams, and supplements.

  • A medication form is required for all medications. The medication form can be found here (link to med form). This form is not complete unless it has a signature from a physician and a parent or guardian. If we do not have a completed form for a medication then we cannot administer that medication
  • All medications will be turned in on the first day to our camp nurse. You will have an opportunity to speak with the nurse to go over your campers’ medical needs.
  • Any leftover medication at the end of the week will be returned at check-out.

We can administer Tylenol and Benadryl at camp as long as you give Stone Canyon permission to administer over the counter medications on the registration form.

How does the camp store work?

Each day campers will have the opportunity to visit the camp store as part of one of their rotations and can purchase Gatorade, snacks, and apparel. All food/drink items are $1-$2, with apparel items priced from $2-$50.

Parents/guardians can deposit money into their camper’s accounts online. No cash is accepted for the camp store.

Camp store account money is non-refundable when the campers account is below $5.00. Since these accounts are non-refundable, any remaining funds can be refunded or donated to camp. All donations will be used to support future summer camp tuition assistance.

What items are not allowed at Stone Canyon?

The following items should not be brought to camp: Any food containing nuts, any electronic devices, any kind of weapons, including knives, matches or lighters, any toys or stuffed animals

How does transportation work?

Transportation will be available via DCSD bussing to/from camp each day, with the pick-up/drop-off location at Douglas County High School’s South Parking lot, off of Liggett Rd.

Drop-off is from 8:00-8:20am and pick-up is from 4:30-4:50pm.

Starting this year, campers must use the provided bus transportation unless they live in Larkspur or south of Stone Canyon. This change is being instituted to help simplify transportation and for camper safety.

We strongly encourage families not to schedule appointments during Day Camp to allow their campers to be fully present for the entire session of camp and maximize time to participate in camp activities and form friendships. If your camper will need to arrive/leave outside of the typical windows, that information needs to be shared in writing at least 24 hours in advance.

What does the first day check-in process look like?

When you arrive for check-in, be sure the following documents are with you OR you have uploaded them to your campers’ Active account:

  • Health Physical Form - mandatory for all campers, must be completed by a Physician or approved Health Care provider and have been completed in the last 12 months
  • Immunization Record (completed on the official Colorado immunization form)
  • Medication Release Form (only if you are dropping off prescription medications, over the counter medications, and supplements)

What does pick-up look like?

Campers can only be released to parents/guardians and persons listed as an authorized pick-up. Anyone picking up a camper is required to present a photo ID when signing a camper out of camp.

What is a typical day like?

Campers are divided into 3 groups of ~30 campers each by age. They rotate through 3 activity areas each day, with the opportunity to self-select from various activities run by counselors in each area. Lunch and morning/afternoon free time blocks are camp-wide.

How are dietary restrictions and allergies handled?

Our chefs are experienced and work tirelessly to prepare delicious and healthy meals for our campers. We are able to accommodate most food allergies and dietary restrictions, however there are rare cases when we may require a child to bring their own supplemental food that our chefs can prepare. Please be specific as possible when filling out your camper's health form when it comes to allergies. Based on the information provided, our nurse or chef may give you a call to get additional information.

We are a nut-aware facility. Our chefs do not cook with nuts or nut oils, though we may serve items that are processed in facilities where nuts are processed.

What activities are offered?

A large variety of activities will be available to campers, including: T-Shirt Decorating, Arts & Crafts, Fort Building, Sports activities, including soccer, volleyball, and frisbee, Chalk art, Scavenger Hunts, Gaga Ball, and more!

What should my child wear/bring to camp?

We usually have great weather during the summer at Stone Canyon! Your camper should be fine most days in a t-shirt and shorts. Be sure to pack a jacket for if rain moves in! Campers should wear closed toe shoes to camp.

Each day campers should come to camp with a small backpack with a waterbottle, sunscreen, bug spray, and extra layers packed inside! Please do not send your campers with toys/stuffed animals, as we don't want them to get lost.

Please label all of your campers items!
