Staff

We our proud to have some of the most talented outdoor education instructors in the nation.  Our staff holds a variety of degrees, teaching credentials, certifications, and are highly trained to ensure we deliver the high quality programming we promise.  Instructors also bring an array of skills, experience and diverse backgrounds that make outdoor education at Stone Canyon a truly unique experience.  Our team believes in the potential of each student and they work hard to create an atmosphere that fosters growth, presents new challenges, and allows new friendships to form.

In addition to full-time Program Instructors, Stone Canyon utilizes high school volunteers from Douglas County School District to assist with group and cabin management.  The High School Leader program teaches our volunteers a variety of leadership skills, such as patience, decision-making, communication, responsibility, and more.  The camp atmosphere and incredible growth experienced by high school leads is unique and exciting.  Even more, the students look up to the high school leads in every way and look forward to the day that they get to volunteer at Stone Canyon.

Program Instructors and Stone Canyon admin provide 24 hour supervision and instruction, allowing classroom teachers to observe, participate, and relax!  Staff must be 21, have a minimum of a bachelors degree, and at least one year of outdoor education, summer camp, or instructional experience.  In addition, we have a Registered Nurse on site for the entirety of your program to ensure all health and medical concerns are addressed immediately.  Meet our staff.

Meals & Dining

Stone Canyon offers incredibly delicious meals like no other camp! Our chefs will take excellent care of your students, providing nutritious options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Vegetarian options, fresh fruit and desserts are provided. We are a nut-free facility, and are able to accommodate most food-related allergies or dietary restrictions.

We also run "family-style" meals to bring back the original social networking: conversation and emphasizing connecting with peers! Students are assigned a table group throughout their stay and take turns setting the table, fetching food, and cleaning the table. Additionally, students learn about Ort (a scrap piece of food) and strive to keep their food waste down throughout their stay.  Click here for a sample menu.
